Summary of an industry mainstay event
This year’s CCH Connections User Conference delivered an incredible experience and curated content to attendees in an action-packed four days at the Gaylord Rockies Resort in Aurora, Colorado. With record-breaking attendance, the Wolters Kluwer team hosted over 1300 customers at its 15th annual user conference. With over 550 first time attendees and over 120 ten-year attendees, the consensus was that Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting hosted their best user conference yet. So what made the 2019 event so special?
Top tier speakers
What does an extreme top-gun fighter pilot and a five-time tech entrepreneur have in common? Answer: Both brought their Peak Performance themed keynote addresses to a packed CCH Connections User Conference.
Recognized as one of the top 10 in-demand speakers, former Blue Angels pilot, John Foley kicked off the first full day of #CCHUC19 with his infectious ‘Glad to be Here’ philosophy. His ‘attitude of gratitude’ mantra was coupled with his insistence that high performance is maintained through a focus on a purpose larger than self. Not only did he engage the audience, but he connected with them personally after his talk, to the pleasure of attendees.
Josh Linkner, touted as the #1 most booked innovation keynote speaker on the planet, provided a thought provoking and inspirational keynote on Day 2. Having founded, built, and sold five tech companies for a combined exit value of over $200 million, Josh’s accomplishments preceded his talk on innovation and leading transformation, with tangible ways to incorporate an innovative mindset in your day-to-day.
Interaction with company leadership
Not only did #CCHUC19 attendees enjoy the external keynote speakers, but Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting North America President and CEO Jason Marx brought his informative perspective on how collaboration drives innovation. Simply put, we achieve better outcomes when we work together. Of particular interest was a look back at the company’s annual survey comparing 2019 to 2006. This perspective provided insight on industry challenges and how far the industry has come with the help of technology partners.
Building connections and reconnecting with old friends
One of the most common accolades given at every CCH Connections User Conference event is the enjoyment attendees get in connecting with fellow industry peers. Table-top discussions were introduced this year, providing attendees with an opportunity to meet with peers on a variety of topics such as hiring and technology best-practices. Throughout the #CCHUC19 event, it was common to hear attendees sharing their experiences with one another—and that’s what CCH Connections is all about!
Speaking of announcements, #CCHUC19 had its share, creating a noticeable buzz with attendees. Among the announcements were:
- The introduction of the CCH Axcess™ Client Collaboration module -This state of the art solution delivers on our users’ desire for an all-in-one platform enabling client and firm members to collaborate securely and easily. Whether it be document collection and storage, or e-signatures, attendees can check another item off of their digital tax workflow wish-list with this solution. Read the full press release here.
- The introduction of several new cloud-based audit solutions designed to help tax and accounting professionals realize the full benefits of the Integrated Audit Approach. Again, at the request of users, Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting answered the call, with what will soon be a fully integrated cloud-based CCH Axcess™ Audit solution. Currently making up this cloud-based suite are CCH Axcess™ Financial Prep, CCH Axcess™ Knowledge Coach, and CCH Axcess™ Engagement. Read the full press release here.
- And finally, powerful new capabilities to CCH Axcess™ iQ were announced, making it even easier for tax and accounting professionals to proactively identify clients impacted by legislative changes. Read the full press release here.
The common thread among all three announcements were the fact that each of these industry leading technologies were developed, tested and ultimately released as a result of direct user feedback obtained at conferences like #CCHUC19.
Closing the event loop with fun and relaxation
No CCH Connections User Conference would be complete without the two vital elements of fun and relaxation, and this year’s event did not disappoint. Whether it be the Silent Disco, where attendees loudly (yet silently) rocked the night away to their favorite tunes, to interacting in the jumbo arcade room, to just relaxing with a warm beverage in the Mountain Pass sports bar, fun was had by all.
To round out an already full #CCHUC19 itinerary, attendees also had the pleasure of partaking in a wild-west themed evening reception at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on the conference’s final evening. With casino-themed games and a live band, followed by fireworks and the reveal of the 2020 CCH Connections User Conference location, attendees had a night to remember!
From those who attended this year’s conference, the commonly heard adage “You just had to be there!” really does apply. But for those professionals that have yet to attend this annual Wolters Kluwer event, you owe it to yourself and your firm to make it to #CCHUC20 next year in Orlando, Florida at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes resort. Inspiration, connections, industry insight and fun await.
