Alaska Governor Calls for Constitutional Amendments in SOS Address

In his first State of the State (SOS) address, Alaska Gov. Michael J. Dunleavy announced three constitutional amendments he plans to introduce. The amendments, which will be what he called “the foundation of a permanent fiscal plan,” include:

– a spending limit and savings plan for politicians;

– no change to the Permanent Fund Dividend without a vote of the people; and

– no change in taxes without a vote of the people.

The governor did not make any other tax proposals in the SOS.
