Iowa Releases 2019 Standard Deductions, Income Tax Brackets

Iowa has released the 2019 personal income tax:

– standard deduction amounts; and

– tax brackets.

What are the 2019 Standard Deduction Amounts?

The 2019 standard deductions are:

– $2,080 for single taxpayers;

– $2,080 for married taxpayers filing separately; and

– $5,120 for married filing jointly.

What are the 2019 Individual Income Tax Brackets?

The 2019 income tax rates are lower than in 2018. Iowa adopted legislation lowering the rates on May 30, 2018. The 2019 brackets are:

– on income between $0 and $1,638 the tax is $0 + (0.33% x $0);

– on income between $1,638 and $3,276 the tax is $5.41 + (0.67% x $1,638);

– on income between $3,276 and $6,552 the tax is $16.38 + (2.25% x $3,276);

– on income between $6,552 and $14,742 the tax is $90.09 + (4.14% x $6,552);

– on income between $14,742 and $24,570 the tax is $429.16 + (5.63% x $14,742);

– on income between $24,570 and $32,760 the tax is $982.48 + (5.96% x $24,570);

– on income between $32,760 and $49,140 the tax is $1,470.60 + (6.25% x $32,760);

– on income between $49,140 and $73,710 the tax is $2,494.35 + (7.44% x $49,140); and

– on income over $73,710 the tax is $4,322.36 + (8.53% x $73,710).
