JCT, CBO FY 2019 Budget Requests Approved

House appropriators approved budget requests for congressional scorekeepers. On May 8, the House Appropriations Committee unanimously approved fiscal year 2019 budget requests for the Joint Committee on Taxation and the Congressional Budget Office.

JCT, CBO Budgets Approved

The Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill contains funding for the congressional scorekeeping agencies. The JCT’s approved budget request is $11.2 million and the CBO’s is $50.7 million.

Tax Reform Technical Corrections

According to JCT Chief Thomas Barthold, the JCT is currently compiling technical corrections to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Also, Barthold said the JCT’s technical corrections role is clarifying lawmakers’ legislative intent.

A technical corrections bill will be separate in scope from any tax reform “phase two” legislative efforts, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Tex., has said.
