Wyoming Exempts Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies are exempt from Wyoming property tax. Wyoming has enacted legislation that exempts property it defines as “virtual currency”.

Virtual Currency in Wyoming

For the exemption, “virtual currencies” include any type of digital representation of value that is used as:

  • a medium of exchange;
  • unit of account; or
  • store of value.

Also, the “virtual currency” must not be recognized as legal tender by the U.S. government.
