Minnesota Updates Returns Due to Recent IRC Conformity Law

The Minnesota Department of Revenue has updated personal income tax returns to conform to the federal tax code for 2015 and 2016. Recent IRC conformity legislation required the department to make several changes.

Individuals who have not heard from the department, but believe that their 2015 return was affected by federal conformity, should review their tax return. Additionally, a return may have been affected if there is an amount entered on line 14 or 38 of Schedule M1M, Income Additions and Subtractions.

Changes for federal conformity were made to 2016 income tax forms and instructions before the filing season opened. As such, no adjustments to these returns are needed.
