Evening Events at CCH Connections: User Conference 2017

One of the best parts of CCH Connections: User Conference 2017 is meeting new people, learning from each other, and sharing remarkable moments that will last a lifetime. This year’s evening events will be full of new #CCHUC17 connections and memories. You’ll also get to see San Francisco in a different light and from a new perspective. Here’s what we have lined up:

The Paris of the West

On Sunday, October 22, the User Conference kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a Welcome Reception at City View. You’ll enjoy the sunset along with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a live DJ while overlooking Yerba Buena Gardens.

Then on Monday, October 23, get ready to experience an unforgettable evening dinner at the Marriott® Marquis Ballroom.  This Paris of the West hotel’s location is just south of Market Street in SoMa, offering easy access to the city’s best attractions, including Moscone Center, the Yerba Buena Gardens, Union Square and AT&T Park. After dinner, drinks, and dancing, your fun will be far from over! Choose one of two private twilight tours: a tour of Alcatraz Island or a Cable Car tour of San Francisco.

Alcatraz Tour

Should you pick the Alcatraz tour, get ready for a close-up look at a historic and infamous federal prison. You will be picked up by motor coaches at the Marriott® Marquis. From there, the buses will make their way to Pier 33. You will take a short ferry ride to Alcatraz with outstanding views of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge at night. Guests will also be able to interact with a former guard or “inmate.”

On the island, guests will be greeted by Park Rangers and receive a brief overview of the island and the tour. Following the short welcome, you will enjoy an award-winning audio tour, which includes commentary from former inmates and guards. It highlights the history of the island beginning with Spanish discovery (Alcatraz is Spanish for ‘pelicans’), early military fortifications, the infamous usage as a maximum-security prison, and finally to its current status as a national park.

Park Rangers will also be stationed throughout the tour and at various points of interest. You will learn what life was like inside the jail cells of notorious criminals like Al Capone. Explore the remnants of the prison and experience the island’s natural beauty and wildlife. Then, board the ferry for the return trip to San Francisco.

San Francisco Cable Car Tour

Should you pick the one-of-a-kind premier city Cable Car tour, you will travel the streets of San Francisco in style aboard an authentic Classic Cable Car!

As the historical vehicles make their way through downtown, you will hear a live narration about San Francisco and its notable sights.

More than just a city tour, this “San Francisco safari” provides a fascinating and in-depth look at the history and culture that has developed within the city’s 49 square miles. An expert guide will point out San Francisco’s historic and cultural landmarks such as Coit Tower, the restored Ferry Building, and the Palace of Fine Arts. The Cable Cars will cruise up and down the hills so you can admire views of Victorian homes and the bay. We will also make a stop at Ghirardelli Square for fun photo opportunities. Then we’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge to make a stop for more photos at Vista Point.

The California Academy of Sciences

Finally, on Tuesday, October 24, enjoy a cool evening event at the California Academy of Sciences! Based in Golden Gate Park, the California Academy of Sciences is a destination like no other and a must-see San Francisco museum. It’s the only place on Earth to house an aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum, AND User Conference attendees — all under one living roof! Enjoy exclusive access to the Rainforest. Sip and socialize near the Aquarium. Explore a variety of cuisines near the Swamp. Dance away to exciting beats in the African Hall. Or even go rooftop star gazing with sweeping city views.
