Virginia Provides Tax Relief to Hurricane Harvey Victims

Virginia will provide extensions and penalty waivers to taxpayers who are unable to meet their filing and payment obligations because of Hurricane Harvey. Virginia Tax intends to grant similar relief to victims of Hurricane Irma.

Virginia’s relief is similar to that offered by the IRS for federal income and payroll taxes. It will apply to the same taxpayers, returns, and payments for which federal tax relief has been granted.

The deadline for income tax returns will be extended to March 2, 2018.

Semi-weekly payments of Virginia withholding tax will be extended to September 20, 2017.
