Illinois ~ Sales and Use Tax: Guidance on Changes to Gasohol Taxation

An Illinois Department of Revenue news release updates motor fuel retailers on the gasohol sales and use tax rate increase and the repeal of the gasohol exemption. Although both changes are effective July 1, 2017, the department has given motor fuel retailers until July 10, 2017, to make the appropriate changes to their pumps and, until June 11, 2017, to begin collecting tax at the 100% rate. Retailers that collected tax at the 100% rate prior to June 11, 2017, must remit all tax collected.

Subscribers can view the news release on the department’s website at http://www.revenue.state.il.us/News/2017_Gasohol.htm.
