Delaware Increases Tobacco Tax Rates; Adds Vapor Products

Effective September 1, 2017, the Delaware tax on cigarettes is increased to $2.10 (currently, $1.60) per pack of 20 cigarettes.

In addition, the tax on all tobacco products other than vapor products, moist snuff, and cigarettes is increased to 30% of the wholesale price from 15% of the wholesale price.

Finally, the tax on moist snuff is increased to 92 cents per ounce (currently, 54 cents per ounce).

Vapor Product Tax

Also, effective January 1, 2018, tax will be imposed on vapor products at the rate of 5 cents per fluid millimeter of vapor product. “Tobacco products” will include vapor products.
