Texas ~ Sales and Use Tax: Annual Sales Tax Holiday Set for August 5-7

CCH Tax Day Report

The Texas Comptroller has issued another reminder that the state’s 2016 annual sales tax holiday will take place August 5-7, 2016 (Friday-Sunday). During this three-day period, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 from sales tax. Textbooks, computers and software are not exempt during this sales tax holiday. Lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptroller’s website (Publication 98-490) at http://comptroller.texas.gov/taxinfo/taxpubs/taxholiday/d/.
