The Crittenden County Circuit Court, Arkansas, has enjoined the collection of a 1% increase in the county sales and use tax rate which was formerly scheduled to take effect October 1, 2014. The rate increase, from 1.75% to 2.75%, had been approved by county voters in June 2014 for repairing, improving, renovating, equipping, operating, and maintaining the Crittenden Regional Hospital. However, the hospital ceased operations on September 7, 2014.
As a result of the court order enjoining the rate increase, the local tax rate for Crittenden County will remain at 1.75%. The order was issued on September 26, 2014, in Ingram v. Weiss et al., CV-2014-296. Taxpayers having issues with this notice should call (501) 682-7104.
