The California Franchise Tax Board has unveiled a new page on its Web site that outlines the city business tax data exchange program, under which various city business tax departments share licensing and taxpayer information with the FTB in exchange for specified information obtained from personal income and corporation franchise and income taxpayers. The Web page provides detailed information concerning the types of data exchanged, when the data is exchanged, and how the data is safeguarded. The data exchanged is limited to identifying information, such as name, address, Social Security number or federal employer identification number (FEIN), business entity, and business activity and/or classification code.
