ProSystem fx® Portal Enhances Client Collaboration, Service

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., August 25, 2009) – Now there’s a convenient way for accounting firms to exchange client documents of any size confidentially and securely. CCH’s ProSystem fx® Portal provides quick and secure bi-directional file exchange capabilities, enhancing collaboration and service to clients. CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, is a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

“With ProSystem fx Portal, a firm and its clients are no longer limited by the size and security constraints of e-mail attachments and the sluggishness of other delivery systems,” said CCH Product Manager John Springfield. “In addition, some states have already passed laws prohibiting firms from sending confidential information via unencrypted e-mail, and more are expected to follow. ProSystem fx Portal is an ideal way to comply with such laws.”

Improved Client Service

With ProSystem fx Portal, clients will experience unmatched convenience through instant access to their documents – including tax returns, financial statements and source documents. Meanwhile, firms benefit from reduced overhead and greater efficiency. Portal helps firms and their clients access vital documents immediately from any location with an Internet connection via a secure, private repository.

ProSystem fx Portal makes it easy to share files of all types and sizes: PDF files, Web pages, hyperlinks, Microsoft Excel® spreadsheets, Microsoft® Word documents, PowerPoint® presentations and QuickBooks® files among others.

“With ProSystem fx Portal, it’s easy for a client to review an entire tax return with all its schedules, then sign and fax the e-filing release, or collect several years’ worth of tax and financial statements if they’re applying for a loan,“ Springfield noted.

Organize, Integrate Documents

With ProSystem fx Portal, firms can organize documents electronically in cabinets and folders that mirror the way they store paper documents. Files can be designated as Read-Only or Read/Write for easier access and greater security and “Checked Out” to prevent other users from editing them while they are being updated. Previous file versions can be maintained in the document history. Users can search, filter and display documents by file type, title, creator, key word and more.

ProSystem fx Portal is tightly integrated with other members of the ProSystem fx Suite of products, including ProSystem fx Tax, ProSystem fx Engagement and ProSystem fx Document. Firms using ProSystem fx Document have the ability to track file versions, create custom folders, easily publish and un-publish files to Portal from ProSystem fx Document and to download files from Portal to ProSystem fx Document.

Basic, Premier Versions

ProSystem fx Portal comes in both Basic and Premier versions. Basic Portals are designed for firm clients who just need access to copies of their 1040s or other core documents, and who will occasionally need to exchange small files and documents with the firm.

Premier Portals offer unlimited storage space (up to the storage limit licensed by the firm), the ability to add multiple client users and the option to provide secure Client Areas. Client Areas provide clients with a secure portal area for their external business or investment activities and are accessible only by client users.

“A firm might offer Client Areas as a value-added service to clients, or to differentiate themselves from the competition,” Springfield said.
