New ProSystem fx Engagement 3.0 Delivers Increased Speed, Functionality, Integration With Premier Research Content Taking Paperless Engagements to New Heights

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., January 20, 2004) – Accounting firms of all sizes can now take advantage of CCH INCORPORATED’s ProSystem fx Engagement Version 3.0, the industry’s premier paperless engagement software. With faster speed, increased functionality, exciting new features and more time saving integration, professionals will find it easier than ever to conduct paperless audit and tax engagements with this easy-to-use, groundbreaking release.

ProSystem fx Engagement 3.0 builds on the strengths of past releases that have been recognized as Top 100 Software Products by Accounting Today for five years in a row. Adding to Engagement’s impressive resume is the fact that all types of accounting firms – from the largest regional entities to smaller local firms – are embracing this application to move toward paperless tax and assurance services.

And for good reason. ProSystem fx Engagement 3.0 now:

  • Integrates with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Provides greatly enhanced synchronization.
  • Utilizes a Microsoft® MSDE database, offering increased scalability and performance.
  • Provides new integration with powerful online research tools.
  • Offers new options that better enable multi-office firms to collaborate between offices.
  • Delivers useful new snapshot diagnostic views.

ProSystem fx Engagement’s Central File Room now utilizes a Microsoft® MSDE database, offering increased scalability and performance. Firms also have the option of running 3.0 in an existing Microsoft SQL environment to take full advantage of SQL if desired. 3.0 also offers new options that better enable multi-office firms to collaborate between offices, with or without a wide area network in place.

New diagnostic views deliver useful snapshots of the local file room, engagement binder and trial balances, which will further streamline the review process and help firms better manage remote data.

Integration with Aspen Publishers’ Accounting Research Manager™ and the CCH Internetsm Tax Research NetWork™ has also been added, allowing users to access these powerful online research tools without leaving Engagement.

“The new integration features offered by Engagement 3.0 reinforce our mission to integrate the leading research and compliance products offered by CCH,” said Sue Torgerson, Marketing Manager for ProSystem fx Engagement. “Now users will have fast access to accurate, comprehensive, and trusted tax, accounting and financial reporting resources.”

With document retention requirements in mind, integration with Microsoft® Outlook has also been added, providing several options for storing Outlook e-mails in Engagement binders. Synchronization is now more powerful than ever with a new synchronization queue, enabling users to synchronize multiple binders in the background while actively working in an Engagement binder.

To ensure optimal performance, synchronization and refreshing complex reports have also been enhanced, resulting in top-level performance.

These and many other key enhancements further power this comprehensive, paperless office tool. Enhancements have also been made with regard to installation and workpaper notes and signoffs, adding greater flexibility for those working in a team environment.

“We’re very excited about Engagement 3.0 and the new time saving features and functionality it offers tax and accounting professionals,” said Torgerson. “Looking ahead, we will continue to add new enhancements that build on past successes, with the goal of providing professionals with the most powerful paperless office in the industry.”
